I went for a walk today to Lumpini Park. It’s a pleasant green space in the middle of Bangkok with a large lake. Pretty quiet at this time during the day. But busy in the early morning and evening with people exercising. After a 30 minute walk I ended up talking to a friendly stranger sitting all alone on a bench. Her name was Oam, a 25 year old.
We were in the shade but it was still really hot outside there. So I invited her for lunch but she had to go back to work. She is a Thai soup vendor, with one of those street food stalls. I went back with her and she made me some really nice soup. With noodles, vegetables, fishballs and thin slices of red pork. Delicious! Gave her my hotel address and that night she came over after work. Spent the night with me my friendly stranger from Lumpini Park.
